WOMEN ENTRIES IN INDIAN ARMY

1991, was an important year in the history of Indian armed forces. It was this very year when women were first inducted into Indian army. Since then, more then 800 lady officers have been commissioned into short service commission of Indian army. However, women are still not given permanent commission but they can apply for various SSC entries

. With the help of this post i will try to explain all the lady candidates about various entry schemes for them, on the basis of their eligibility.

GRADUATE (In Non-technical branches)

Female candidates can apply for CDSE Conducted by UPSC to join Indian army as an short service commission officer in non-technical branches of Indian army.

Eligibility Criteria
Age between 19 and 25 yrs as on 01 Jan of the yr in which course is due to commence for Apr course and 01 Jul of the yr in which course is due to commence for Oct course
Qualification Graduation / Post Graduation from Recognized University.
Marital Status Un Married
Application to be Received by applications to be forwarded to UPSC as per notification published in Apr/ Sep every year
Likely SSB Date May/Jun and Nov/Dec
Date Commencement of Trg Apr and Oct
Training Academy OTA Chennai
Duration of Trg 49 Weeks

FOR NCC C CERTIFICATE HOLDERS

All the graduate girls having a ncc-c certificate can join indian army in NCC(SPL) ENTRY WOMEN scheme
Vacancies Per Course As notified
Notify in Employment News and leading Daily news Paper Notified by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch in Jun / Dec
Eligibility Criteria
Age between 19 and 25 yrs as on 01 Jan of the yr in which course is due to commence for Apr course and 01 Jul of the yr in which course is due to commence for Oct course
Qualification Final Year appearing/Graduate in any discipline with 50% Aggregate marks, 2 Yrs service in NCC Senior Div Army with minimum 'B' Grade in 'C' Certificate Exam.
Marital Status Un Married
Application to be Received by Oct / Nov and Apr / May through NCC Gp HQ/NCC Dte
Likely SSB Date Nov to Jan for Apr Course and May to July for Oct Course
Date Commencement of Trg Apr and Oct
Training Academy OTA, Chennai

 

FOR ENGINEERING GRADUATES

All female candidates who have completed their Engineering in selected branches can join army via SSCW(T) Short Service Commission Women (technical) scheme.
Eligibility Criteria
Age between 19 and 25 yrs as on 01 Jan of the yr in which course is due to commence for Apr course and 01 Jul of the yr in which course is due to commence for Oct course
Qualification Graduation / Post Graduation from Recognized University.
Marital Status Un Married
Application to be Received by applications to be forwarded to UPSC as per notification published in Apr/ Sep every year
Likely SSB Date May/Jun and Nov/Dec
Date Commencement of Trg Apr and Oct
Training Academy OTA Chennai
Duration of Trg 49 Weeks

FOR LAW GRADUATES

All graduate girls in LLB/LLM with atleast 55 % marks can apply for JAG entry for women.
JAG Women
Vacancies Per Course As Notified
Notify in Employment News and leading Daily news Paper Notified by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch
Eligibility Criteria
Age between 21 and 27 yrs as on 01 Jan of the yr in which course is due to commence for Apr course and 01 Jul of the yr in which course is due to commence for Oct course
Qualification Graduate with LLB / LLM with 55% marks. Registered with Bar Council of India / State
Marital Status Un Married
Application to be Received by Oct / Nov and Apr / May
Likely SSB Date Dec - Jan and Jul - Aug
Date Commencement of Trg Apr and Oct
Training Academy OTA CHENNAI
Duration of Trg 49 Weeks

      You can apply for UES entry. in 3rd year or TGC in your 4th year. Please refer www.joinindianarmy.com websites for the form dates. mostly it will come in april/ may & Nov/december

      or with UPSC also you can join. Forms will come in july/august and nov/december

      You can apply for TGC. Please refer www.joinindianarmy.com websites for the form dates. mostly it will come in april/ may & Nov/december

      or with UPSC also you can join. Forms will come in july/august and nov/december

      Most of the branches are eligible. However, i would recommend you to go through the notification for SSC(W)-Tech to get the clear picture.

      You can apply for NCC special entry scheme. Keep checking join Indian army website or this website for notification.
      Or you can appear for cdse exam that is conducted by upsc for ota.

      No, there is no such provision. Only graduate girls are allowed in Indian defense services. There is no such scheme available for them. However. If you wish to join in technical core you may complete your btech and then join through SSC.

    can girls select all the four subdivision if CDSE i.e., IMA, INDIAN NAVY, INDIAN AIRFORCE AND OPT, after completing btech in computer sceince.
    which all exams are conducted other than CDSE for joining Indian Army.

      No, they can't. They are eligible for ota only.

      For indian army there is no other exam. However, being a b tech you may apply through SSC Women tech entry. For this you just have a to fill the form and you will be shortlisted for the ssb on the basis of your btech percentage.

      In case, you want to join airforce you can also apply for AFCAT. Forms for the same are currently out by the way.
