NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY AND NAVAL ACADEMY EXAMINATION

 
Union service public commission (UPSC), New Delhi, holds competitive examination for admission to the ARMY, Navy and Air Force Wings of the NDA and Naval academy, twice a year for training courses commencing in January and July.
Admission to the above course is made on the basis of a written exam held by UPSC and an intelligence and personality test held by Service Selection Board.
 
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Written exam comprises of two objective type papers.
Paper-1 Mathematics (code no. 01)    Max marks 300 (120 questions each carrying 2.5 mark each)
Paper-2 General Ability test (code no. 02)     max marks 600 (150 questions each carrying 4 marks each).
Paper -2 comprises of following
PART –A ENGLISH (50 Questions / 200 marks)
PART –B GEN, KNOWLEDGE (100 Questions/400 marks)

PART B can be further divided into following 6 sections
Section for physics 100 marks.
Section for Chemistry 60 marks.
Section for General science 40 marks.
Section for history, freedom movements etc. 80 marks
Section for geography 80 marks
Section for current events 40 marks.
*NOTE : Both papers contain negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer.

PAPER -2 GENERAL ABILITY TEST
 
PART A- ENGLISH
The question paper in English is designed to check a candidates understanding of English and workman like use of words. The syllabus covers various aspects like grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and cohesion in extended text to test the candidates proficiency in English.
PART B- GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
The question paper on general knowledge will broadly cover the subjects Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and Current Events.
